A living story of becoming — for our students, and for ourselves.
Founder & Lead Artist
"Transformative Artist + Creative Catalyst"
I believe art does not merely teach us how to make. It teaches us how to become. Pablo Picasso once said, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." My life's work has been a response to that truth.
I did not enter art to decorate the world. I entered art to understand it, to question it, and to transform within it. I have seen students arrive unsure of themselves — afraid to make mistakes, afraid to be seen.
Art gave them another way in. Hands grew confident. Eyes learned to observe. What transformed was not only their work — it was their sense of self.
I learn. I unlearn. I relearn. And in doing so, I continue to become.
Teaching Philosophy
Students observe closely, question freely, and engage without fear of failure. I value patience over speed, reflection over perfection.
The art room is where students slow down, express emotions, manage stress, and discover their voice. Mistakes are welcomed as part of learning.
My role is to hold space for growth — guide gently, observe carefully, and intervene thoughtfully, allowing students to arrive at understanding through experience.
Art becomes transformative when it reaches those most often unheard — including children with IDD and tribal communities.
"Before it is visible, before it is named, change begins within."
About Dr. Gnanasooriyan
I am an educator, artist, and research scholar whose practice is shaped by reflection, curiosity, and care. My journey in art has always been intertwined with teaching — not as separate identities, but as one continuous practice.
Over the years, my work has extended beyond the classroom into exhibitions, outdoor learning, community engagement, and collaborative spaces. Whether working with students, professional artists, children with IDD, or tribal communities, my focus remains the same: using art as a means of dignity, expression, and change.

From Classroom To World
Through outdoor sketching, gallery visits, and conversations with artists, students begin to see art as a way of engaging with the world.
Art as Social Responsibility
In 2007, as part of my undergraduate project, I worked with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, creating art alongside them and exhibiting their works at the Government College of Fine Arts gallery — one of the earliest such exhibitions in India, receiving public and media attention.
Over time this expanded to work with tribal communities, where art became a bridge between culture, identity, and expression. My ongoing vision: to nurture children with IDD and tribal children through art — so it becomes a means of transformation, voice, and belonging.
Transformation deepens when art serves others.
Join a community where art becomes a force for personal transformation.
